Common Questions

CLOCK QUESTIONS
  1. Why are Fancy Street Clock's products less expensive than some competitors?
We have a different business model than most of the other major clock companies. We do not have a national sales force nor a large distribution network. Thus, as a factory direct company, the cost of your clock does not include a salesperson's commission or a traditional mark up of a distributor.

  2. How can the time be reset if I have a power outage?
We use different systems to address the need of our customers. The majority of our customers choose the automatic reset option which automatically resets itself following a power outage and also adjusts for daylight savings time.

  3. How do radio control movements work?
Radio control movements read directly off the Atomic Clock near Ft. Collins, Colorado which maintains the official time for the United States of America.

  4. Is the entire clock frame including the head made from heavy cast aluminum?
Yes. Our clocks are made of heavy commercial quality cast aluminum. While they are extremely sturdy, they will never rust. Unlike other manufacturers of pedestal clocks who use fiberglass in the clock head, you will not find any of our products utilizing what we consider to be an inferior material. Heavy cast aluminum is the industry standard for long lasting life and performance in all weather and climate conditions.

  5. Your literature indicates that the majority of your customers install the street clock themselves. How difficult is the installation?
This is one of our most frequently asked questions. Street clocks are generally no more difficult to install than a street lamp at the end of your driveway. The clock simply requires a standard 120V power source and a poured concrete base with anchor rods to bolt the clock down. When a city or community purchases our clock, in over 90% of those instances the public works department handles the installation. Most businesses, homeowners and other customers either hire a local contractor, handyman or sign company to install the clock. We provide the appropriate CAD drawings, schematics, instructions as well as telephone support, before and during the installation process.

  6. Once I place my order how long does it usually take for my clock to be completed?
We customize each clock for our customers and on average you can expect to receive your standard model clock in 8 to 10 weeks. Time may vary depending on our current production schedule. Solar pedestal clocks take 12 to 15 weeks while our Heritage Park model and Central Park model are produced in 10 to 12 weeks.

  7. How will my clock be shipped?
We carefully crate and package each clock. We use reputable carriers who do not move your clock from truck to truck minimizing the opportunity for damage.

  8. What is the warranty on my street clock?
The Fancy Street Clock Co., LLC warranties all electrical equipment in our street clocks to be free from defects, whether it is workmanship or materials for a period of three (3) years from the date of shipment. Should a defect or malfunction occur, the owner should call our Service Department at (309) 794-3022 and ask for one of our technicians or clock smiths. They will review the problem to determine what corrections or repairs are necessary. This warranty is not applicable to any misuse, neglect, vandalism or natural disaster, such as flood, lightning or fire.

  9. Can I purchase an extended warranty?
Yes, we do offer an extended warranty program upon request. Please contact us for details on our 2, 3, 5 and 7 year extended warranty programs. Extended warranties must be purchased within one year from the date of the shipment.
